The Prime Minister Scott Morrison just announced the establishment of the Australian Climate Service.
This service will bring together world-leading science, data, information and expertise from Geoscience Australia, CSIRO, the Australian Bureau of Statistics and the Bureau of Meteorology.
It will provide a national picture of the threats posed by a changing climate and natural hazards for the very first time, by combining the Commonwealth’s extensive climate and natural hazard information into a central location.
Initial information about the Australian Climate Service and the new Recovery Agency can be found at: https://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal/new-climate-service-to-help-australia-bounce-back-from-natural-disasters-20210504-p57osr.html
More information will be coming in the weeks ahead. EMSINA will also ensure we get a full debrief at the June meeting.
